Lithuania will introduce the same procedures on the border with Belarus as Poland

Lithuania has announced a decision to close two border checkpoints out of six on the border with Belarus from August 18. We are talking about the points "Shumskas-Losha" and "Tvyaryachus-Vidzy", according to the website of the Lithuanian Government.

The representative of the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications Ramunas Dilba noted that the entire traffic flow from two closed checkpoints will be redirected to the largest checkpoint "Myadininkai – Kamenny Log". At the same time, the official assured that the situation will not affect the cargo flow and the increase in queues at the border.

By the way, Kamenny Log is one of the busiest border crossings on the border with Lithuania. According to the State Border Committee of Belarus at 10 a.m. on August 17, more than 280 heavy trucks are expected to enter here. As noted in the department, Lithuanian border guards issue no more than 25 trucks per day from the pass rate. The control services of the Lavorishkes-Kotlovka and Shalchininkai-Benyakoni checkpoints issued 38 trucks.

The main reason for the closure of border posts is the relocation of "Wagnerians" to the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite said that this is one of the preventive measures aimed at controlling threats to national security and possible provocations at the border.

In Belarus, it is believed that Lithuania is actually looking for any excuse to hinder the movement of goods and people in this way. After all, the redistribution of the load on the remaining checkpoints will increase queues at the border and provoke delays in paperwork.
