Railway containers, 7 months of 2023: car transportation increased by 2 times

Container transportation on the Russian railway network in January-July 2023 amounted to 4 million 190.8 thousand TEU, 12.6% more than in the same period last year.
According to the results of the reporting period, 1,662 million TEU were sent in the internal message, 13.7% more than in 7 months of 2022.
The number of loaded containers in all types of traffic for the reporting period of this year reached 3.1 million TEU – this is 18.6% more than in January-July last year.
According to Russian Railways, the highest dynamics in percentage terms was noted in grain transportation ( an increase of 2.5 times to 62.6 thousand TEU) and chemical and mineral fertilizers ( an increase of 2.4 times ( to 152.2 thousand TEU). Also, a significant increase is observed in the transportation of cars and components – by 2 times ( up to 250.6 thousand TEU), potatoes, vegetables and fruits – an increase of 1.5 times ( up to 9.6 thousand TEU).
In July of this year, 618.3 thousand TEU were transported in all types of transport, which is 15.1% more than in the same period of 2022.
