COSCO Resumes Container Bookings on Middle East Routes

COSCO Resumes Container Bookings on Middle East Routes

25 march

# Market News

Chinese carrier COSCO Shipping Lines has resumed container bookings on vessels serving Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq.

COSCO warns clients that, due to the unstable situation in the region, booking conditions and transportation may change, and certain routes carry additional surcharges for military risks and rising operational costs.

Previously, on March 4, COSCO had suspended bookings on routes passing through the Strait of Hormuz, prompting many shipping operators to reroute vessels around high-risk areas.

COSCO Shipping Lines is among the world’s largest container carriers, ranking fourth after MSC, Maersk, and CMA CGM, with a market share of approximately 10% globally as of 2025.
